As the seasons change, the largest organ of your body reacts–which can mean the seasonal return of things like dry skin and rosacea. The good news is that winter is a great time for peels and intense skincare treatments, the not-so-great news is that rosacea and dryness and cause a lot of irritation and discomfort if you don’t have the opportunity to repair the damage cold and harsh winds can cause. Rosacea is redness of the skin caused by broken blood vessels, and is characterized by dryness, and sometimes pain in the affected areas.
Janna Ronert of Image created the Vital C hydrating product line to help rosacea suffers become champions over rosacea. As the name suggests, the line smells like refreshing citrus, with no artificial fragrances. The Ormedic line from Image also helps to balance rosacea, and rosacea caused by acne (rosacea and pimples). You might be used to being extra-careful in winter when it comes to your rosacea-prone skin, and if you aren’t prone to rosacea, you will still notice things like dryness. The Vital-C line is wonderful all year around, and winter is an extra-perfect time to explore it!
Tips to keep rosacea at bay:
- Pat your skin dry instead of rubbing it. Don’t mechanically irritate your skin.
- Avoid hot showers. The hot water will cause your skin to lose moisture. Avoid hot showers and make sure you are putting oils back into your skin, should it be stripped of essential nutrients.
- Use a humidifier. Add moisture to the air without heat by using a humidifier in your house. Humidifiers can also make lower temperatures feel warmer.
- Treat your skin like the organ it is. Switch to a hydrating cleanser for the winter. Nourishing products work best outside the bottle and with daily use. Routine= results.
